About Amphorae

We are driven by our commitment to our authors and to the art of writing. Our goal is to publish emerging and established writers contributing to the diversity of the written word. As a business, we seek collaboration opportunities that facilitate the success of businesses within the publishing industry.

Amphorae Publishing Group is a woman- and veteran-owned business. Amphorae was created in 2014 with the merger of Blank Slate Press and Walrus Publishing. In 2018, Amphorae acquired Goldminds Publishing and later acquired Reputation Books. Through these imprints, Amphorae has worked with authors across the United States to publish titles over a wide range of genres. Amphorae authors have been reviewed in Publishers WeeklyKirkusNew York Journal of BooksHistorical Novels ReviewForeword Reviews, Midwest Book Review, and many others. Amphorae’s titles have also won many awards including multiple Benjamin Franklin awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association, multiple IPPYs, multiple Foreword Indie awards, a Willa Award for Editing, and a DaVinci Eye award for cover design.

We are actively publishing Historical Fiction, Mystery/Thriller titles.

Our staff is dedicated to protecting the author’s work and the creative process. To that end, we have included clauses in our publishing contract related to generative artificial intelligence, permissions for use of published materials, and other publishing rights. Amphorae will not provide any work for the purpose of training Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning Models (ML) nor will Amphorae use Generative Artificial Intelligence to develop a work of a similar type of a published work. In designing book covers and creating marketing materials for our authors, Amphorae reserves the right to make use of select Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator design tools (e.g., expanding an image) that make use of Generative AI processes, but will not create covers that are totally generated by artificial intelligence.

Our Interns

Alyssa Harris is our acquisitions intern. She is a recent grad in creative writing, an executive assistant, and has been published twice in her favorite student literary magazine, Journey of Southeast Missouri State University. When she isn’t staring at her endless WIPs or turning the other cheek to the blank page, she’s trying new recipes, steeping tea, or sending snail-mail letters to her friends. Alyssa is from Illinois, but dreams of Missouri river towns.

Daniela Montemarano is our Editorial Intern. Based in Pennsylvania, she is a student at Kutztown University majoring in English with minors in professional writing, women’s studies, and social media. Although not a creative writer herself, Daniela enjoys reading the works of her peers. She likes classics, the horror genre, and comedy. She takes on projects with a kind yet effective approach. Daniela’s writing is published in a textbook: Alternatives to Agonism: Ethical Approaches to Argument in the College Composition Classroom. Her favorite pastimes are baking, exercising, and rewatching the same shows.
